Mytube On My Network
‘ I want Youtube on my local network ‘
Media Streaming Server . It’s been 3 days i’ve been looking for software that fit my need. A software that can serv/stream media files(videos) to all clients in my network, like youtube. I need it so bad for some important videos . Nothing … i found nothing. I tried bunch of them, but still nothing.” i’m thinkin … thinkin … thinkin, and suddenly i know ” . Naaahhhh, that’s from the cartoon series called Pinky Dinky Doo.
For the last time, i clicked on a link & download it & tried it. It’s my lucky day. It’s from NCH Software. Let’s take a look.
1. Installation ?
Just go for it.
2. Configuration
hhmmmm … nothing. Would i lie to you ? It’s ready as soon as it’s installed. Try it. Browse to http://youripaddress:86 or http://computername:86 . There, you can see the … i mean it’s half-way ready, i haven’t add any videos yet. It’s my bad, sorry.
o.k. Before adding video, this is the section for this purpose
the other is for Live Video Stream.
3. Add videos
Click on ‘Add’ button to add a video, then you’ll see ‘video playback option’ then it’ll start converting the video. Pictures ? sure …
At this point, videos already available through default address http://computername:86 but i’d like to move to step 4 to make it more cool.
4. I created a simple html website with IIS on Windows XP (for testing). Then copy the video source file into it. Everything is good ? Good.
Would you like to see my Youtube ? i mean Mytube ? Later …
5. How can we test it ? I have no idea how to test it. I’m just a guy …
So, i create a test page with 5 videos on it (autoplay). Load it from 6 clients at the same time. You know, just to see what happens to my server (it’s a pentium4 2.4 gHz) or to my network. I had never tried media streaming before.
… and all videos on all clients playing smoothly. I smiled , yeahh …
Welcome to MyTube … (it’s not finished yet)
‘What ? you went throught all that … for Naruto movies ?’ … ha ha ha, that’s the idea. Now i can watch my favourite anime anywhere in my network. ‘ i told you it’s for some important videos, right ? ‘.
Finally, big thanks to NCH Software & thanks to all readers.
O.k i’m done .
