Every computer technician has his own unique way in doing or solving computer problems. We cant just say they’re all the same coz they’re not, but they do have something in common. Their objective, their purpose. They’re all want just one thing. That is solving every computer problems that’s been brought to them. Every problems arise is a challenge, especially new ones.
So, this time we’ll check out this handy software by Lavalys called Everest. This is a great tool for computer technician. It collects a detailed computer’s information like chipset’s model number, windows(os) informations, installed software’s informations … (there are more) and displays it in an easy navigation window. Let’s see some samples.
You can see a computer’s full summary from Computer > Summary in the navigation panel on the left. Everest displays a short descriptions about windows information, hardware vendors and chipsets in the summary section. If you want to know more details about a specific hardware or software you can explore the navigation menu.
If you have an unknown device (no device driver installed), everest can identify it instantly (you should have the latest everest). Like in the picture (above), you can see the unknow device model is “MSI G4 MX440″. This’ll save your time. We should be gratefull Lavalys developed this awsome tool. Or you can just click the chipset’s name in the summary page, everest will give you the driver download link.
How’s that ? Just click on “Driver Download” link and everest will take you to the vendor’s website. Isn’t that awsome ? Here’s a sample of everest’s detail information of a network card installed in the system (picture below).
Everest is more than all these actually. There’s so much more functions that’ll make your job easier and quicker and of course a great tool comes with a price. As i can remeber, the last free edition is Everest Home Edition (2.2) and i think it is no longer supported by Lavalys. Maybe Majorgeeks still has it.
The latest version is 5.30, lauched somewhere on mac 2009 and supports much more devices as hardware vendors keeps on distributing more advance hardwares. By the way, this really is a great tool. You should support the developer and vendor.
Thanks
