Block Those Irrelevant Ads

April 10th, 2010 by Shah @ KBspot | Filed under Webmasters.

As a publisher we should make sure ads that apprears on our site/blog are as relevant to the content we published. We need ‘clicks’ from our site visitors and irrelevant ads would give away our opportunities. Why would a ’shoes ads’ doing on ‘mercedes benz’ sites ? Your visitor might think you got a fever or something. Right ? It’s time to control these ads and hopefully our visitors likes these ’suggestion links’ we offer.

You can do this in your adsense account. Navigate to (picture below)
Google Adsense > Adsense Setup > Competitive Ad Filter

Adsense Navigation Bar

Adsense Navigation Bar

These are some samples by google so you get it right.

This is where you put ’sites / domains / urls’ that you want to block. Put it all in here, one for each line. You can block an ad by entering either its Display URL or Destination URL.

but please remember, Never click on your own ads to determine the Destination URL as it’s a violation of  Adsense Programme Policies.

So, get your coffee now and start blocking some ads. :) i’m just kidding … well that’s all for tonight. Hope you like it.

Thanks.
