Thanks to print screen button we can easily do our job. The button itself is perfect, but in order to achieve what we really want, that’s complicated . There could be hundreds of this utility software available out there, offering different kind of functions and special features but to find the one that really fit our needs and preference we end up spending hours searching for it.

Here i have listed 5 of them, pick up the one you like .

Quick Screen Grab Software

My favourite. Might not be the best but it definitely have everything i need. Offers 4 options, selected region, window, scrolling page for both aplication and web page and a full screen capture, simple and quick. Capture screen with drag and save for selected region and click for scrolling and full screen capture. Then it’ll prompt user either save or copy to clipboard for the operation. Only one small problem , it can’t capture it’s own window because after you select an option it’ll minimize itself to system tray.

This one? You can have much more fun with this freeware. For example,  it allows you capture windows control like taskbar or the tray icons section. Or you can use the Fixed Region to make sure you snapped an accurate size image and for the FreeHand, i’m not sure if somebody want to use it but still it’s a great tool to have.

The Pixel Ruler is also a good tool. You can directly measure an image right on the screen with a digital ruler, you’ll get a percise measurement.

The Whiteboard allows you to draw directly on the screen. Useful for those who love to add arrows and put notes on thier pictures. Plus it has it’s own image editor for final touch before you save it.

Hoversnap ( download )

A simple freeware with a few options but can be the best for those who likes using short keys. It has only two function for print screen, full screen and custom area.

Just press the hot keys and it will automatically save the image in a folder defined by you with an auto generated filename.

Image size can be defined manually if you need  a smaller image and Hoversnap will do it for you.

When you are done send your images directly to your server with its basic FTP Upload function.

Seems pretty handy for those who is always in a rush.

MWsnap ( download )

A simple screen capture tool with couple functions. Also support hotkeys if you prefer such feature. Has its own simple image editor for final touch with basic image editing functions.

What makes it interesting is you can turn your captured image to a button like image with buttonize function. You can also add a cursor into it or you can just add border to your images.

A basic screen capture freeware with 2 capture options only, capture entire screen and capture active window .  Hotkeys for those 2 functions are supported. As for captured image, you can choose between 3 actions , automatic save, prompt for filename or copy to clipboard.

The only thing that makes it differs than other is the JPEG Quality option where you can change it to higher or lower.
